Cooling Columns are used to regulate the flow of fresh water to maintain the desired engine water temperature during testing. Jacket water and separate circuit after cooler (SCAC) cooling columns are nearly identical except for the temperature regulator settings. The jacket water cooling columns have adjustable temperature settings of 160° to 230°F( 71° to 110°C).
The after cooler column has adjustable temperature settings of 75° to 135°F (34° to 57°C). For jacket water cooling systems requiring shunt lines, the columns have removable plugs for this purpose. Columns are equipped to allow the visual indication of combustion gas leaks into the engine water cooling system.
