Our exceptional product life and excellent customer service are well known throughout the industry.
In 1976, John Petelinsek set out to improve upon the traditional water brake dynamometer. The result was an affordable, durable dynamometer with increased absorption characteristics through a simpler, deeper pocket design.
Power Test, Inc. was founded, and John spent the next 25 years focused on building his company and providing the diesel engine market with a durable, reliable product and the best customer service in the dyno manufacturer industry.
Power Test has continued to build upon this solid foundation and has grown our product line through the design, manufacture, and development of a variety of engine and chassis dynamometers, engine and vehicle controls, and the latest technology in data acquisition systems.
In 2002, Power Test acquired Stuska Dynamometers establishing itself in the performance engine testing market. With an existing customer base of nearly 3,000 and more than 40 years of proven performance, the Stuska product line was brought into the 21st century with the addition of Power Test’s manufacturing capabilities and our expertise in data acquisition and control systems.
In 2006, Power Test purchased the transmission and hydraulic testing equipment division of Aidco International. Aidco set the standard for hydraulic test equipment since its introduction to the market in the mid-1960s. We have continued to develop this product line into AIDCO Test Systems. Through the combination of a solid customer base and attention to the needs of an ever changing market, we have quickly re-established the
AIDCO name as a leader in the transmission and hydraulic component testing industry. Acquisitions such as these as well as the internal development of new products have enabled us to be a globally prominent one-source provider for testing principle power train components and vehicles.
As dedicated as Power Test is to our customers and our product line, we are equally dedicated to our employees.
In addition to a generous benefits package, including excellent health coverage, 401K contributions, and profit sharing, we provide tuition reimbursement and an award winning corporate wellness program which includes interaction of personal trainers and wellness specialists. As a result, our employees are involved with fitness and nutritional activities that can aid not only their performance at work, but improve their quality of life at home as well.
Power Test has a very active Wellness Program that won first place in the small business category in the 2011 Healthiest Employers in the Milwaukee area competition. Fitness classes are conducted daily for employees and their families in our in-house fitness facility. Health risk assessment, fitness testing, smoking cessation classes and nutrition guidance is also offered to all employees.
Power Test sponsors community fitness events and will pay the entry fees for employees to participate in a variety of runs, walks, bike rides and triathlons. Our wellness program is driven by the belief that people should do their best to lead a healthy, meaningful and fruitful life and, in addition, it builds a sense of community within the company as employees participate in activities together.
In addition to providing first-rate customer service and an excellent work environment for our employees, Power Test believes in giving back to our community as well. The charities to which we donate all have a special relationship to Power Test. Many of them are recommended by our employees as a result of active involvement with these groups.
Making the best use of our green space, Power Test families and friends prepared, planted, and maintained a ¼ acre garden that yielded more than one ton of fresh produce that was donated to local food pantries.
Power Test has a strong belief in the power of giving back. There is no greater gift than agreeing to donate your organs, tissue and eyes after you have passed away. For that reason, Power Test has worked with other committed people to create the Destination Donation team, a group of endurance athletes who serve as ambassadors for the organ donation program while participating in the sports they love. The goal is to simply get more people to register and become donors, thereby giving life back to those in need and creating a lasting legacy for their loved ones. More information can be found at destinationdonation.org.
You can also follow Power Test’s Human Resources consultant and Destination Donation team member Rob Verhelst as he seeks to break the Guiness Book of World Records mark by completing 27 Ironman distance triathlons in one calendar year. In addition to this highly challenging goal, he will be completing the 26.2 mile run portion of several of the events in 60 pounds of firefighting gear. You can follow Rob’s progress throughout the year here and also learn more about Code 3 for a Cure.
For the second year in a row, Power Test has been recognized as an outstanding manufacturer in Wisconsin as a leader in the manufacture of dynamometers. In addition to our nominations for the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year program, Power Test has also been recognized as the Sussex Area Chamber of Commerce's Business of the Year in 2009, as well as being recognized by numerous state and federal organizations for our contributions to our community, employees, and fulfillment of government contracts.

Most recently, Power Test won First Place in the Small Business category in the 2011 Healthiest Employers competition in the Milwaukee, WI area.
In recent years, much of the area’s manufacturing capabilities have been diluted through international outsourcing and downsizing. Power Test is dedicated to building upon its strong manufacturing capabilities to illustrate that a hard working dedicated workforce can grow and even be successful in the world market when employees work together for the benefit of the company and their families.
We strongly believe that the future of manufacturing in America depends on today’s youth. Area students who are enrolled in the technical education studies departments are able to experience first-hand how their development into a skilled and technically solid workforce can provide a sustainable career through apprenticeships and employment opportunities with Power Test.
